Spacecraft could one day navigate through the cosmos using a particular type of dead star as a kind of GPS.
German scientists are developing a technique that allows for very precise positioning anywhere in space by picking up X-ray signals from pulsars.
These dense, burnt-out stars rotate rapidly, sweeping their emission across the cosmos at rates that are so stable they rival atomic clock performance.
This timing property is perfect for interstellar navigation, says the team.
If a spacecraft carried the means to detect the pulses, it could compare their arrival times with those predicted at a reference location. This would enable the craft to determine its position to an accuracy of just five kilometres anywhere in the galaxy.
"The principle is so simple that it will definitely have applications," said Prof Werner Becker from the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching.
"These pulsars are everywhere in the Universe and their flashing is so predictable that it makes such an approach really straightforward,"

Exorcist bishop called in to purge demons
Exorcising demons from possessed souls and removing poltergeists from
Welsh homes are two of the more unusual jobs taken on by the Bishop of
Monmouth.
The Church in Wales cleric told Wales on Sunday that specially trained priests are being recruited by families too afraid to stay in their homes because they are haunted by evil spirits.
Bishop of Monmouth, Dominic Walker, is a trained exorcist and said clergy across his diocese deal with two or three cases of “property possession” at any one time.
He also revealed on rare occasions it is not just homes that are possessed but people too.
More often than not both problems can be solved by saying a few prayers or blessings or holding a requiem mass.
But occasionally a full exorcism must be held.
The bishop, who is a senior figure within the Church in Wales, has a special interest in the ministry of deliverance – a term used to describe the process by which a person, believed to be under the control of an evil supernatural entity, is set free.
And during his 35 years with the church he said he has performed countless acts of deliverance along with six exorcisms.
According to the bishop, the practice of deliverance is more likely to involve a person with a psychiatric problem who believes they see evil spirits whereas the art of exorcism involves “real demonic forces”.
In both cases he said the church works closely with psychiatrists to ensure the people involved are given the best possible care.
Only a handful of priests across the country are qualified to carry out an exorcism and in order to do so they must first seek permission from their bishop.
“When people turn to us for help they’re normally fairly desperate,” Bishop Walker said.
“Our clergy are very good because we usually always have two or three cases on the go in the diocese at any one time.
“Most priests will go throughout the whole of their ministry without ever carrying out a full exorcism or being asked to.
“But we all get people saying ‘we’ve got a ghost, we’ve got poltergeist activity, I feel there’s a presence in my house which I don’t like’ and people get very disturbed.
“In fact I’m advising a priest at the moment whose got a family who just want to move.
“They want to sell up and get out because they feel they’ve got some sort of presence in their home.”
And surprisingly, Bishop Walker said the people most likely to seek help from the church are those who are not particularly religious.
“Sometimes there are people who say ‘before this happened to me I didn’t believe in ghosts and I don’t want to believe but I can’t deny what is happening’,” he said.
The frequency of church-led exorcisms fell dramatically at the start of the 20th Century as the credibility of Sigmund Freud’s and Carl Jung’s theories of analytical psychology grew.
Suddenly there was a feeling among the congregation that the apparent presence of evil spirits could be explained as psychotic behaviour, leading to the decline in demand for exorcists.
Yet in recent years, according to Bishop Walker, the Church has come to realise that exorcisms can be used alongside psychological care.
“[The Church] realised in the ‘50s and ‘60s that people were knocking on vicarage doors saying ‘I’ve got a ghost’ or ‘I’m possessed’ and the clergy didn’t know how to deal with it because they had not been trained.
“Exorcism was seen as medieval mumbo-jumbo but suddenly they realised they had to minister to these people in need.
“It’s trying to deal with the person as a whole person – the body, mind and spirit – you can’t deal with just one part,” he said.
Since then, clergy have been on the look out for parishioners who demonstrate symptoms of spirit possession – from being able to speak in different voices to having paranormal strength.
Yet even when it appears someone is possessed, Bishop Walker said the need to carry out an exorcism is very rare.
“I’ve been here [Monmouth] nine years and we haven’t carried out any exorcisms in the diocese during that time,” he said.
“In the 35 years that I’ve been involved in deliverance ministry I’ve probably carried out six exorcisms and they’ve always been as a last resort and they’ve always been with psychiatric care.”
One of the occasions Bishop Walker has had to carry out an exorcism was on a woman who found herself speaking in three different male voices.
On that instance he ruled out a personality disorder, concluding she was in fact possessed by three different spirits.
Yet not all cases of apparent possession will end up with an exorcism being performed.
“We’ve got a case at the moment in which it seems a child is attention seeking,” he said.
“The child is seeing ‘it’ as it describes it.
“[The child] is seeing something but the child knows when they go to bed that mum will come and give them attention.
“Trying to get the mother to see that this might actually simply be attention seeking though is quite difficult as she is quite convinced the child is genuinely seeing a ghost.
“Very occasionally you do get situations which you just can’t explain where people have not responded to psychotherapy, they’ve not responded to drugs, they’ve changed in personality and something appears to have taken them over.
“But when you say the prayers of deliverance, the prayers of exorcism, they suddenly make an instant recovery.”
All of Bishop Walker’s six exorcisms have been successful to varying degrees.
“Afterwards, you are always left with the question ‘what on earth have you exorcised?’” he said.
“The church is quite divided in that respect – there are some who believe there are demonic forces which you have to get rid of and they sometimes attach themselves to people and we don’t know why unless the person has deliberately invited it.
“And others who say the demons are actually from within – they are fragmented parts of our unconscious that have overwhelmed us.”

Demons are negative none human spirits, commonly used in Judeo - Christian terms as fallen Angels. The term also applies to many different Gods & Spirits in other cultures that predate Judeo - Christian ones. It is believed there is a hierarchy with demons as well, ranging from the very powerful to lesser ones. Demons are very deceptive about concealing their true identity, often disguising themselves as harmless spirits or ghosts. A demon can appear as many entities to confuse its targets and to extract more fear energy out of victims by making their numbers seem greater. However they usually attack in waves starting with the lesser Demons leading the way. Once the victim has been morally broken down over time the more powerful Demons step in for the possession. It is important to obtain the Demons name, as this will help the Exorcist or Shaman in the exorcism or cleansing. Foul smells like rotting garbage and sulfur are tell tail signs of a demonic presence. The sounds of animal grunting are associated as well, and their appearance can range from a human- like form to horned, half animal like creatures. Never taunt or challenge a demon unless properly trained, as this usually increases the violence at a haunted location.

Scientists have obtained a fascinating new insight into the evolution of humans and our ability to walk.
It comes from the fossilised bones of a foot that were discovered in Ethiopia and dated to be 3.4 million years old.
The researchers say they do not have enough remains to identify the species of hominin, or human ancestor, from which the right foot came.
But they tell Nature journal that just the shape of the bones shows the creature could walk upright at times.
The fossil haul consists of eight elements from the forefoot - bones such as metatarsals and phalanges.
The specimens were pulled from clay sediments at Burtele in the central Afar region, about 520km north-east of the capital Addis Ababa.
It is a significant discovery because it demonstrates there was more than one pre-human species living in East Africa between three and four million years ago, each with its own method of moving around.

Worlds smallest frog discovered!!!!
Amid the skyscrapers, sidewalks and subways of New York City, scientists have discovered a new species of frog within view of the Statue of Liberty. In fact, the researchers who discovered the frog say the center of its range is Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The newly identified
animal is among more than a dozen distinct leopard frog species. And,
while it's fairly common to find new species of animals in the remote
wildness or in rain forests, to discover one in marshes and ponds within
an urban area such as New York is nothing short of amazing, according
to Leslie Rissler, program director with the National Science
Foundation.
"The species is
completely distinct," said Rissler, part of the team of scientists that
found the species. "It has a very small range and it was quite a
surprise to find a new species in New York City."
Researchers used DNA testing to find this so-called cryptic species, which is one species hidden within another.
Researchers basically stumbled across the new frog, Rissler said, adding the discovery is "extremely rare."
"We were doing a study on
a related organism, the southern leopard frog, in my lab at the
University of Alabama and another colleague contacted us to say we have
these frogs that look like southern leopard frogs, but they don't quite
sound like southern leopard frogs, can you add some of these to your
genetic analyses? And we did and that sort of began the study."
Scientist Jeremy Feinberg
at Rutgers University first noticed the new amphibian sounded different
from the northern and southern leopard frogs and that it had
"weird-sounding calls." Feinberg said the frog had a "peculiar croak."
It didn't have the "long snore" or "rapid chuckle" other leopard frogs have. The new frog had a "short, repetitive croak."
Feinberg says he knew
from the get-go there was something odd about the frog. "When I first
heard these frogs calling, it was so different, I knew something was
very off."
And the DNA analysis proved him right.
The species is so new it
doesn't even have a name yet. And Rissler said there won't be any
naming contests for this new amphibian, either.

A new frog species has been discovered in the
midst of some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers. The frogs are believed
to have lived among us for a century without being recognized. "So much
for the notion that new species are never found in America," comments
Loren Coleman. Over at Frontiers of Zoology, Dale Drinnon rounds up
reports of giant snakes in New Mexico
over the past few decades. From the descriptions, the snakes are
sometimes as large as telephone poles and over 12 feet long. One man
recalls seeing the ground heaving up and down supposedly as a giant
snake breathed, which makes us think of the giant underground worms in Tremors, but as far as we know Kevin Bacon is not involved.
Cloning a Mammoth?
Scientists from the Northeastern
Federal University in the Siberian city of Yakutsk and the Center of
Biotechnological Studies in Seoul are launching a joint project to clone
an animal that became extinct many thousands years ago – the mammoth.
“The
aim of our project is to study the genetic codes of primeval animals,”
Semyon Grigoryev, a biologist from Yakutsk, says. “But the main
objective is to clone a mammoth.”
It may seem like an
easy task: simply extract genetic material from mammoth remains,
transplant it into an egg cell of a modern female elephant, wait for 22
months (an elephant’s pregnancy period) and get a real mammoth! But the
most difficult thing would be finding well-preserved genetic material.
“Our
Korean colleagues are worried that the genetic material from mammoth
remains found in Siberia may not be viable enough for that,” another
biologist, Gennady Boeskurov, says.
“Sometimes,
specimens of mammoth remains are so well preserved, almost as if the
animal died yesterday. But they may not be as “fresh” as they look,

It
is known that microorganisms and plants could remain viable in a state
of anabiosis (a state of suspended animation) for thousands of years,
and then come back to life. But this does not work for mammoths.
Nevertheless,
the project’s participants are still hoping to find a mammoth fossil
that has never experienced a thaw. For this purpose, the Koreans are
planning to bring a mobile laboratory to Yakutia (of which Yakutsk is
the administrative center) this summer.
“There is another way to clone a mammoth – by using the so-called ‘indirect’ cloning method,” Gennady Boeskurov says.
“Fragments
of mammoth DNA can be found in their remains in the Siberian
permafrost, and we can restore the genetic codes of these animals that
became extinct long ago. In fact, scientists have already decoded 50% of
the mammoth’s genetic code. Many laboratories all over the world are
working on that, and, if the mammoth’s genome is fully decoded, it would
be possible to modify the genetic code of modern elephants and clone a
mammoth in this way.”
The head of the Korean team of
scientists, Mr. Hwang Woo-suk, an expert in stem cells, sounds very
optimistic. “I believe, we’ll achieve our goal within several years,” he
says.
However, some skeptics say that Mr. Hwang’s
reputation as a scientist is not impeccable. Some time ago, he claimed
that he had achieved some success in cloning a human. But later, Mr.
Hwang had to confess that he had falsified the results of his work. But
at the same time, nobody has ever questioned his success in cloning
dogs, pigs and wolves. So, maybe, Mr. Hwan would really succeed in
coning a mammoth.
This is Russia’s second joint
project aimed at cloning a mammoth. The first one is being conducted in
partnership with Japan. This year, a shinbone of a mammoth with
well-preserved remains of bone marrow was found in Yakutia. It was
decided to use this bone marrow for extracting genetic material for a
mammoth clone.
Scientists hope that this clone will be born in about 5 years from now!!!!

Virgo Full Moon (ghost hunting weather report)
This is great ghost hunting weather! The full moon was yesterday, along with a powerful solar storm that is still going on!! Remember, the waning gibbous phase is a great time for ghost hunting.
As the Pisces cycle reached its Full Moon climax, this is a great week to tune back into your dreams and emotions. The Full Moon is always in the opposing sign of the current cycle, so it's Virgo that will best help us integrate the Pisces vibration, by either highlighting what serves us or what we should release.
Pisces and Virgo are both "mutable" signs. Mutable energy is transforming, adapting and dissolving. In Pisces we see this quality in our emotional body, whereas in Virgo, being an earth sign, we find it in the physical plane. Pisces' mutability expresses as invisible messages, through dreams, intuitions, or feelings of empathy—or its shadow expressions of being deluded, overly sensitive and victimized. Virgo's mutability helps us to work, cleanse, and heal—or it becomes criticism and judgment that tears us apart.
The Full Moon enhances energies, so it may make Virgo/Pisces qualities more prominent in our lives now. If we find ourselves overwhelmed by Virgo's inner Critic, we may feel that nothing is good enough at the Full Moon—not our body, our home, our job, or anything else. We will only see what is wrong, even though we want things to look "perfect." These feelings may inspire us to look for an escape—which opens us up to the Piscean "relief" of the Addict. The biggest solar storm in five years is battering our planet right now, and may cause disruptions to satellites, power grids and communications networks over the next 24 hours, space weather experts say.
The storm is expected to create strong disruptions due to an odd combination of intense magnetic, radio and radiation emissions, making it the strongest overall solar storm since December 2006, even though the flare that triggered it was not the largest, space weather officials said.
The CME reached Earth this morning at about 5:45 a.m. EST (1045 GMT), according to officials at the Space Weather Prediction Center, which is jointly managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service. While the CME did not hit Earth head-on, the material delivered a glancing blow to the planet, and energetic particles will continue to interact with Earth's magnetic field over the course of the day. The CME will likely trigger geomagnetic and solar radiation storms today, which could interfere with satellites in space and power grids on the ground, said Joseph Kunches, a space weather scientist at NOAA. Aircraft that fly over the Earth's polar caps may potentially experience communications issues as well, and some commercial airliners have already taken precautionary steps.
The effects of this solar storm will likely last for 24 hours, and may possibly linger into Friday (March 9)
"Such a CME could result in a severe geomagnetic storm, causing aurora at low latitudes, with possible disruption to high frequency radio communication, global positioning systems (GPS), and power grids," NASA scientists said in a statement.

Ghosts & spirits manifest
Manifesting
Ghosts & spirits manifest in many ways, shapes and sizes. The more energy an entity has usually determines how it manifests.There seems to be a pattern when entities manifest, starting with vortexes, then orbs, ectoplasm and finally full bodied apparitions. However this is not always the case.
Vortex
A vortex is a type of doorway to the spirit world. Orbs have been captured coming out of them and many believe this is how some entities travel from one realm to the next. Multiple orbs are seen in areas that have high levels of paranormal activity and often point to vortexes, portals or doorways within or around haunted locations. When you need protection from problem ghosts, spirits or entities, use these items and spiritual techniques.
The White Light Technique - Pray to any God of your religion. Visualize the calming white light pouring over you. Say "In the name of God" I ask that a capsule of light be cast around me to seal and protect me from any energies, entities or influences that may be detrimental to me. Fill my aura with the light and love of God! You can use any prayer but you must say " In the name of God" and visualize the white light filling your body.
Garlic - Hang over your door, put a clove in your pocket, wear it around the neck. Garlic repels dark entities.
Salt - Dark entities cannot cross a line of salt because it repels negative energy. Salt can be carried in anything and you can cast it in the direction of the problem entity.
Holy Water - Catholics and non-Catholics use holy water as protection from ghosts and evil entities. Cast the water
in the sign of a cross in front of entryways, windows and throughout the entire house while praying. You can carry it in a vial around your neck or keep in your pocket. Holy water is also used to anoint candles, crosses, other items and people as well.
Charms, Amulets, Tokens & Talisman - Such as Crosses, Holy medals like St. Michael, Crystal quartz or Silver jewelry. Anything with spiritual or sentimental meaning. Wear these items or place them in your home.
Energy Stones - Quartz crystal, Black Obsidian and Black Tourmaline are good choices. Recharge your stones by placing them outside, overnight on a full moon or let a loved one hold them. Refrain from anyone negative handling your stone.
Sage and Incense - Light sage or incense and walk through every room, making sure to trace every doorway, window and all entryways. Pay special attention to closets, corners (including ceiling corners) and / or basements and attics. Let the smoke fill the area, to make sure every part of the house has been smudged. Ghosts
What are ghosts? Our theory is that ghosts are the energy of a person or animals soul that once lived. Ghosts exist in between our dimension and the next, like a radio signal that isn't quite coming in clear on our dimensional frequency. They have not fully crossed over to the spirit realm. There are multiple reasons why ghosts make themselves known to us and how they interact with the living is usually determined by what personality characteristics they had when they where alive.
Ghost Personality Characteristics
Ghosts were once human, just like you and I. It is believed that you keep your personality characteristics when you die. For example, if you where an evil person in life, you will be the same as a ghost. Mean spirited ghosts usually torment the living at haunted locations, feeding off the victims fear energy. The same goes for good people. If you were a loving person in life, you will be a loving ghost. Good spirited ghosts are usually very protective of families that live in haunted locations.Remember not all ghosts are bad.
Why Ghosts Are Here
There are multiple reasons why ghosts make themselves known to us and why they are still here. However, there doesn't have to be a particular reason, sometimes they just happen.It can happen to anyone, at any age and remains a mystery as to why.
Crisis Apparitions
Crisis apparitions are usually a one-time paranormal experience, when a ghost is seen at the time of it's death by family & friends as a way of saying goodbye or giving important information. For example, your watching tv in your living room after visiting your mother in the hospital, and turn around to see her standing over you smiling and then she vanishes. A second later, the phone rings and when you answer, her doctor tells you she has just passed. If someone visits you more than once to give you information or comfort, that is a good sign they have progressed to your self appointed guardian angel. We will get more in depth about this in the spirit section.
Ghosts That Are Unaware They Are Deceased
Ghosts that are unaware that they are deceased, go about their business as if they are still living. They do not understand they have passed. A great example is the movie "The Others". The ghosts portrayed in the movie believe the living are the ghosts. Sometimes, ghosts cant see the living but instead feel their presence. This can cause stress on the ghost as well as the living and happens often when people move into the house of a recently deceased person, usually an elderly person who lived and died alone in the final years. The ghost sees the new comers as invaders, but simply talking to the ghost about their death can help them cross over.
Ghosts With Unfinished Business
Ghosts with unfinished business can linger in this world for numerous reasons. Like a father making sure his children succeed in life despite his sudden death. There are many cases involving victims of foul play unable to cross over until justice has been served. Another example would be of a recently deceased lover making sure their partner finds happiness and moves on.
Ghosts that are trapped or lost
These types of ghosts usually know they are dead, but for one reason or another cannot cross over yet. Some may fear moving on because of the person they were in life, or they fear leaving what is familiar to them. Some ghosts may be trapped in fear and held captive by another ghost or evil spirit, like in a murder suicide haunting. Other ghosts may be trapped at a location because an evil spirit or ghost may have drove them to suicide. Dark entities feed off the fear energy of ghosts and the living. A common example of a lost ghost could be someone who died abroad and is now trying to find their way home.
Vengeful Ghosts
An example of a vengeful ghost would be if a women was murdered by a male and now as a ghost only torments or attacks males when they are present at the haunted location.
Hungry Ghosts
In Chinese/ Hindu Buddhist belief, the Hungry Ghosts are said to come back to this realm for reasons such as to visit their families or old homes. In Taoism religion, hungry ghosts are deceased people that in one way or another did not find everything they needed in the afterlife. These ghosts will come back to feed off victims fear energy. It is believed that leaving offerings of food, drink & money will appease them, so they will leave in peace.
Residual Ghosts
Residual ghosts usually live out their final hours over and over again. Residuals most often show no intelligence or self awareness, they will go right past or through you without a flinch. Many believe it was their emotional energy that left an imprint or recording on our our dimensional frequency, like a tape recorder. One example would be of someone getting hit by a train on a full moon night and now every time there's a full moon the ghost is seen walking the tracks.
Child Ghosts
Child ghosts are the ghost of children that have passed for one reason or another. This type of paranormal activity is very sad for obvious reasons. These types of ghosts are usually lonely and seek attention, inadvertently terrifying people by making toys or other objects move.
Ghostly Sounds and Smells
Ghostly sounds like knocking, screams, music, moaning, and voices are quite common around haunted locations. These sounds can be residual or intelligent. Knocking is an old way of communicating with the dead. Ghostly smells are also a very common occurrence in areas with high levels of paranormal activity and they can be residual or intelligent as well. Perfumes, cigar smoke and food smells are just a few of the scents one may encounter. Beware of foul smells like rotting garbage or sulfurs, to name a few. Foul smells like these could mean dark entities, demons or very evil ghosts are making themselves known.

Living Ghosts
A living ghost can be when the soul leaves the body of the still living. Such as outer body experiences, near death experiences and astral projections. There are some rare cases of people seeing themselves as a ghost only at a different age. This can happen if something traumatic took place and a piece of you was left behind or imprinted in some way at a location. These rare types of ghosts can show intelligence and self awareness. A doppelganger is different because its an exact copy of yourself. Doppelgangers can be harmless or omens of death. The harmless doppelgangers are often times an unconscious projection of a person’s will. The entity is visible to others, but the projector rarely sees it. This is a good thing, because it is believed that when a person witnesses their own doppelganger it then becomes a omen of their impending death.

Haunted places, The Star of India San Diego
The Star of India, originally named 'The Euterpe' is a mysterious ship with a long dark history. Built in Ramsey on the Isle of Man, England in 1863, it was one of the first ships made of iron as well as one of the fastest. On its maiden voyage it suffered a collision and a mutiny. On her second voyage in 1865, The Euterpe was forced to cut her masts in a gale and barley made it to Trincomalee and Calcutta for repair. Captain Story died and was buried at sea during the return voyage to England. In 1873 alone, the ship had 8 passenger deaths from various causes. On 1884 a young stowaway that was put to work on the ship was showing off and climbed up the rigging and fell 100 feet. The young stowaway died 3 days later of his injuries. Shortly after, passengers and crew started to report the ghost of the boy touching them near the mast where he fell, making 'S' shapes on their bodies. This was how the game of tag was played during that period and was a favorite pastime on the long voyages. Many report hearing the giggling of a boy as well, along with cold spots. Another ghost of the Star of India, is reported to be of a Chinese crew member who was slowly crushed to death in the anchors chain locker. The chain locker is reported to have a cold spot when the ghost makes its presence known. There is a tale of a captain who slit his own throat in a drunken, frenzied state. The ships physician stitched up the distraught gentleman, but he later pulled out his stitches and bled to death in the First Mate’s Cabin. This area of the ship is reported to have a dark presence felt and guests that sleep in the room are usually awoken by something touching them or ripping the sheets off in the middle of the night. Other ghostly encounters have been reported on the lower deck of the ship where many sailors and passengers have died from diseases and injuries throughout its long history at sea. Some visitors report smells of freshly baked bread coming from the galley as well.

Demons are negative none human spirits, commonly used in Judeo - Christian terms as fallen Angels. The term also applies to many different Gods & Spirits in other cultures that predate Judeo - Christian ones. It is believed there is a hierarchy with demons as well, ranging from the very powerful to lesser ones. Demons are very deceptive about concealing their true identity, often disguising themselves as harmless spirits or ghosts. A demon can appear as many entities to confuse its targets and to extract more fear energy out of victims by making their numbers seem greater. However they usually attack in waves starting with the lesser Demons leading the way. Once the victim has been morally broken down over time the more powerful Demons step in for the possession. It is important to obtain the Demons name, as this will help the Exorcist or Shaman in the exorcism or cleansing. Foul smells like rotting garbage and sulfur are tell tail signs of a demonic presence. The sounds of animal grunting are associated as well, and their appearance can range from a human- like form to horned, half animal like creatures. What is a Haunting?
A Haunting is when paranormal activity has been occurring for a lengthy period of time in a certain location. An area can become haunted for many reasons, not just untimely deaths or tragic accidents. Sometimes an area can become haunted because it was the favorite place of a person who has passed. People do not have to die at a location for it to become haunted and it can technically happen anywhere. The architecture of a structure, the minerals in the land, underground springs and other water sources can have a major factor as well. For example, you should never build structures on top of limestone or water tables, because limestone retains energy and water is a conductor of energy. This belief dates back over 5000 years in ancient China and other areas in the region.

What are ghosts?
What are ghosts? Our theory is that ghosts are the energy of a person or animals soul that once lived. Ghosts exist in between our dimension and the next, like a radio signal that isn't quite coming in clear on our dimensional frequency. They have not fully crossed over to the spirit realm. There are multiple reasons why ghosts make themselves known to us and how they interact with the living is usually determined by what personality characteristics they had when they where alive.
