Humanoid Robot Learns to Talk

With the help of human instructors, a robot has learned to talk like a human infant, learning the names of simple shapes and colors.
“Our work focuses on early stages analogous to some characteristics of a human child of about 6 to 14 months, the transition from babbling to first word forms,” wrote computer scientists led by Caroline Lyon of the University of Hertfordshire in a June 13 Public Library of Science One study.
Named DeeChee, the robot is an iCub, a three-foot-tall open source humanoid machine designed to resemble a baby. The similarity isn’t merely aesthetic, but has functional purpose: Many researchers think certain cognitive processes are shaped by the bodies in which they occur. A brain in a vat would think and learn very differently than a brain in a body.

This field of study is called embodied congnition and in DeeChee’s case applies to learning the building blocks of language, a process that in humans is shaped by an exquisite sensitivity to the frequency of sounds.

The outlines of this might seem self-evident — babies learn by listening — but nuances of the necessary interactions couldn’t be replicated by a human talking to a glowing screen. “Learning needs interaction with a human, and robot embodiment evokes appropriate reactions in a human teacher, which disembodied software does not,” said Lyon.
Using DeeChee also allowed the researchers to quantify the transition from babble to recognizable word forms in detail, drawing statistical links between sound frequencies and the robot’s performance that might eventually inform research on human learning.
To be certain, DeeChee doesn’t yet think like a human baby. It doesn’t have the software. Asked if this process of learning might be combined with higher-level cognitive programs to produce something like consciousness, Lyon demurred.
“First we have to ask, ‘What is consciousness?’” she said.
What is the next step?

 Humanoid Robots are going to be a reality in next 20-30 years, they will not only be able to imitate human behavior but will also be able to think and act on there own like them. Definitely it will take awhile for Humanoid robots to understand that they are slaves to humans and don't have any status or reputation in human society.
Humanoid robots will further add more complexity to human society, making human beings more lazy, incompetent in front of a machine, but before this happens we can have some fun with these mini-robots which are currently available in the market in the form of entertaining toys .

Voyager Spacecraft at Edge of Solar System

NASA's two Voyager spacecrafts will soon be passing in to the cold dark of interstellar space.

They have been traveling away from us for over three decades but despite their age the Voyagers are still returning data to Earth. Now as they approach the very edge of the solar system and prepare to pass outside of the heliosphere, a stream of charged particles given off by the sun, the two spacecraft will be the first man-made objects to leave the solar system completely and head off in to interstellar space.

Both Voyager probes were launched in the 1970s to take advantage of a rare planetary alignment facilitating an ambitious trip to all four gas giants, one of the most significant and groundbreaking space missions ever undertaken.

Just think of what you can accomplish in alliance with this archetype! Gemini’s New Moon brings the year’s best opportunity to stretch your mind. Challenge yourself to learn something new. It doesn’t have to be complicated or deep—catching up on the latest cultural memes or mastering five new options on your Android or iPad could have surprising benefits for your brain. When the Sun entered Gemini that year, I was invited to a living room satsang. I sat for a long while in silence with a group of other seekers, each of us sinking into our own pools of dark treasure. Of course Gemini always adds a few surprises of his own. Waiting for his response is the fun part. No way can I predict how he’ll arrive. Gemini frequently appears as youths and travelers—also liars and thieves! He rules siblings, neighbors, tradesmen, journalists and gossips—an encounter with any one of these might be particularly significant. Gemini is a Trickster too. To keep you from settling into humdrum views, he just might pull the rug out from under you—which is one way to keep your world fresh and new. Those who accuse Gemini of being fickle misunderstand him. The ancients used to swear their honor by Gemini, ending their oaths with "By Gemini!"(which later became "By Jiminy!") This cycle, end your promises this way too. And keep an eye out for the winged messenger.

Those of us in the Northern Hemisphere see the Sun now heading toward its northernmost limit on the horizon. Appropriately for Gemini, North is the direction representing "knowledge and wisdom" in cultures around the world. At the Summer Solstice (June 20), the Sun will slow to an imperceptible pace. That’s what "solstice" means—to stand still. Gemini brings us to a turning point, when summer (or winter in the Southern Hemisphere) officially begins. Baltic Sea UFO Update
A “UFO-shaped” object, found at the bottom of the Baltic Sea last year, has puzzled many. And a Swedish expedition that plunged into the deep eventually surfaced with more questions than answers.
­Covered in soot, with little “fireplace”-like structures and lying at the end of a 300-meter “runway” – this is not something you would expect to find sitting on the sea floor. And whatever you think about extraterrestrial life, “the thing” is still there and there has to be an explanation. So what could it be?
On June 19, 2011, a team of Swedish treasure hunters was exploring the bottom of the Baltic Sea with their sonars when they noticed a bizarre, disc-like structure at a depth of 90 meters. Back then, international experts failed to explain the sonar images. In 2012, after months of preparation, the Ocean X Team, as they call themselves, went back in order to unveil the mystery.

The massive object rises three to four meters above the seabed and is about 60 meters in diameter. Members of the expedition describe it as something round, with rugged edges and concave sides – resembling a “huge mushroom” or, if you will, the Millennium Falcon spaceship from Star Wars.

The central part of the object has an “egg-shaped hole” leading inside. Surrounding the hole, they found odd-looking circular rock formations which looked almost “like small fireplaces” with stones covered in “something resembling soot.”
“Since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea, the find becomes even stranger,” said Lindberg in a press release at OceanExplorer.se. “As laymen, we can only speculate how this [could be] made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver.”

 Another observation that the crew made in person was the 300-meter-long “trail” that they described as a “runway or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.”

The group says that they passed samples from the object to scientists for further examination. Other experts are studying the sonar images and processing the rest of the data from the ship. It is worth mentioning though, that sonar-based imagery has been known to become a source of confusion, when natural rock formations have been taken for foreign objects.

Being the scene of numerous battles in the past and remaining a busy maritime route, the Baltic Sea is a renowned treasure trove for shipwreck hunters. An estimated 100,000 objects are thought to rest on its floor.

Haunted Oceanside CA Hunter Steakhouse

The Hunter Steakhouse is one of Oceanside CA most haunted locations. Many ghosts haunted the land around the Hunter Steakhouse as well.

Prior to the restaurant being built, the land was once Oceanside's Buena Vista Cemetery. The first known burial was in 1885 and the last known was in 1906. It's not known why burials stopped at Buena Vista; some people disinterred and moved their loved ones' bodies to the nearby Oceanside Cemetery.

The land the cemetery was on was purchased by a schoolteacher in the 1950s. She wanted to preserve the view of Buena Vista Lagoon from her home located on Stewart Street. The land was later purchased by a developer who wanted to use the site for commercial properties. In January 1970, 17 bodies were disinterred and removed to El Camino Memorial Park in Sorrento Valley while others went to other resting places.

During the grading of the site for use, and during the creation of the ramp for the I-5 freeway, construction workers found human remains and coffins. These discoveries were swept under the rug by developers so the workers took it upon themselves to rebury any remains they found on the site.

Patrons and employees of the Hunter are said to have eerie experiences in the restaurant. These include hearing their names called, objects moving on their own, power surges and the desire to gaze at the windows in the building. The spirit of a woman seems to enjoy spending time in the stairwell to the bar area. A floating apparition was seen on the second floor. Doors slam, lighting fixtures sway and cold spots are felt.

Activity has also been reported at the nearby Amazon Bike Shop. The building was formerly a gas station and strange incidents were reported during that time as well.

A small reminder of the Buena Vista Cemetery remains in the form of a plaque near the entrance of the restaurant, donated by the Oceanside Historical Society. Part of it reads, "Dedicated to the memories of those who were buried at Buena Vista Cemetery. While some bodies were moved before and during construction on this site many remain here or nearby." The names of the people found on gravestones are listed on the plaque.

Could it be the spirits of the former Buena Vista Cemetery residents are regular visitors to the restaurant and a nearby bicycle shop?

In 1971, the Hungry Hunter Steakhouse opened on the site of the old cemetery. Many employees over the years have reported seeing apparitions, including a woman dressed in old-fashioned clothing, an older man, and vague misty shapes.

Often workers will hear their names being called, although they are alone in the building. The alarm system goes off for no reason, lights flicker, and chandeliers shake. Incredibly loud banging noises are heard from the attic, but nothing is ever found.

Female workers sometimes feel their skin or hair being stroked. One waitress, alone in the building late one evening, heard a “wolf whistle.”

Wine bottles rearrange themselves, doors open and close by themselves, and beer bottles fall off their shelves.

The credit card machine has been observed to work on its own, and the refrigerator door will sometimes lock itself. There are even a few icy cold spots in the restaurant.

The bartender, Kyle Gaines,  has been working at the Hunter Steakhouse (changed from the Hungry Hunter in 1996) for many years. Late at night, when he is alone in the restaurant, cleaning up and getting ready to close, he sometimes hears his name being called. He has been aware of paranormal activity since he was a kid. He used to hunt for arrow heads with a friend who lived near some old Indian burial grounds, and he “used to feel things out there”.

There are some people around the area who believe the site of the Hunter Restaurant was actually a Native American burial ground before the settlers were interred there! Is it any wonder the Steakhouse has some unsettled entities residing within its walls?

City of Gold Discovered

A team of scientists using advanced laser mapping have detailed a remote region of Honduras that may have revealed the legendary lost city of Ciudad Blanca, known as the 'White City' of gold.

Researchers from the University of Houston and the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) flew over the Mosquitia region in a small plane shooting billions of laser pulses at the ground to create a 3D digital map of the topology beneath the jungle canopy.
Compiling their data, the analysts revealed what appears to be man-made elevation changes that are thought to show a forgotten city plaza dotted with pyramids reclaimed by the jungle.

According to legend, Ciudad Blanca or the 'White City' is full of gold and has been sought out by explorers and treasure hunters since conquistador Hernando Cortes first made reference to it in a 1526 letter to King Charles V of Spain.

Inspired by this legend, cinematographer and Ciudad Blanca enthusiast Steven Elkins sought backing from private investors to pay for the team at NCLAM to use their laser mapping technology to chart the forest floor of Mosquitia.

Over the course of a week, the NCALM and University of Houston engineers flew over 60 square miles of forest in their dual-engine Cessna planes.
And at the end of each day, the data was transferred to Bill Carter, a University of Houston engineer who works with the NCLAM.

He discovered the first indications of what appeared to be man-made structures in the jungle.
'I'm the only person right now on the planet that knows that there's these ruins,' said Carter as he recalled his thoughts when he saw straight lines and right angles on the 3D digital map.
'My wife walked in and looked over my shoulder and she was the second person to know.'

This was one of the first times that laser mapping, specifically light detection and ranging (LiDAR) had been used to locate ancient ruins.

The original uses of the technology were to provide intelligence after earthquakes, military spying and for river erosion detection.

Flying above the intended target area, LiDAR operates by sending out 100,000 short laser pulses to the ground each second.
The University of Houston and the NCALM team blanketed the Mosquitia rainforest with as many as 25-50 laser pulses every square metre that totaled up as more than four billion shots during the entire project.
Like a high-tech version of sonar, the light beams hit the ground and return to the aircraft and the time taken allows researchers to create 3D digital map of the surrounding topology.
Able to differentiate between differences in height of less than four inches, the University of Houston has worked with the NCALM to develop their LiDAR systems.
Ciudad Blanca has played a central role in Central American mythology.
Text's cite it as the birthplace of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl and previous reported sightings over the years have described golden idols and elaborately carved white stones, leading to the lost city's name.

However, no confirmation of the existence of the city has ever been provided.
If confirmed, the discovery of Ciudad Blanca would be comparable to the popularisation of forgotten sites such as Machu Picchu, which lay ruined for hundreds of years until reintroduced to western eyes in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham.

And if the myth is dispelled, any positive identification of the fabled 'White City' of Ciudad Blanca would reignite hopes of finding the legendary 'Lost City of Gold', El Dorado.
While the news of the encouraging results this week were greeted favourably by Honduran President Porfirio Lobo, archaeologists will now have to undertake a trek through the dense forest to visit the site in person.

Myth: The legend of El Dorado and the 'Lost City of Gold' has obsessed historians and explorers for almost five hundred years

The pervasive legend of the Ciudad Blanca or White City has captured the public's imagination in Honduras and around the world.

The legend of the fabulous lost city of Honduras was first recorded by Hernan Cortes who, in 1526, less than five years after vanquishing the Aztecs, came to the colonial town of Trujillo, on the north coast of Honduras, to regain control of one of his subordinates. He also mentions a mythical city of Hueitapalan, literally, Old Land of Red Earth. This early mention of a mythical city marks the first of a series of conflated and confused legends that gave birth to the modern legend of the Ciudad Blanca. There is no evidence that Cortes thought Huetlapalan existed in eastern Honduras or ever made any effort to find this lost city.

Nearly twenty years later, in the year 1544, Bishop Cristobol de Pedraza, the Bishop of Honduras, wrote a letter to the King of Spain describing an arduous trip to the edge of the Mosquito Coast jungles. In fantastic language, he tells of looking east from a mountaintop into unexplored territory, where he saw a large city in one of the river valleys that cut through the Mosquito Coast. His guides, he wrote, assured him that the nobles there ate from plates of gold.

Since then, the legend has continued to grow.  The White City has often been linked to Central American mythology; for example, it has sometimes been credited as the birthplace of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.  Moreover, jungle travelers including hunters and pilots have occasionally reported sightings of a large city lost in the jungle. Some of these reports mention golden idols; others comment on the elaborately-carved white stones that give the city its name.

Several expeditions were launched to find the city, and some thought they did. In 1939, for example, explorer Theodore Morde who may have had ties to the OSS supposedly found the lost city, and later wrote the bizarre travelogue Lost City of the Monkey God just before being run over by an automobile in London, England. Later adventurers have suspected sinister motives in his untimely death, and have argued that the U.S. Government or other forces were trying to silence him in order to retain this incredible find for themselves. Recently, a some non-archaeological experts have claimed to have found the White City, joining a long line of people making the same claim.

Professional archaeologists in the area remain skeptical of these claims for a number of reasons; nevertheless, since the 1940s, announcements of expeditions to find the lost city have peppered Honduran and U.S. papers. Every time it seems the White City has been found, events conspire to conceal its location before its existence is verified. Thus, periodic reports of its discovery have not slowed the search.

Local Indian groups have different versions of the lost city legend. Most of these prohibit entry into the lost city, and some focus on the alienation of indigenous gods who have sought refuge in the sacred city, which is not so much lost as hidden.

Recently, relatively large-scale archaeological projects have been undertaken in the region for the first time. The discovery of some large, impressive archaeological sites in the jungles of the Mosquito Coast fueled an initiative by the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History to explore this region. Word spread quickly to the treasure hunting community, fueled in part by the contemporaneous development of the internet. With the subject discussed on websites and list servers, the furor surrounding the White City reached unprecedented proportions in the last few years. Most recently, a documentary with Dr. Begley and the actor Ewan McGregor was produced and widely aired, highlighting the archaeology and rugged conditions of the region.

Dr. Begley recently published a paper on the White City legend, presented on the legend at the Society for American Archaeology meetings in 2012, and will appear in an upcoming book about the legend by writer Christopher S. Stewart, tentatively titled Jungleland, which should be published in early 2013.

Dr. Begley suggests the following questions be asked of anybody who claims to have found the lost city. First, which version of the legend are you using as a guide? The indigenous legends are very different from the popular versions you hear today. Second, what features of your discovery make you think it is THE lost city? None of the legends have any characteristics, traits, or identifying attributes of the Ciudad Blanca. How, then, can you claim to have found it? Just because it is a large site? Third, are you sure your 'discovery' is not already well known to locals, and possibly even archaeologists? Do you have access to a list of all documented archaeological sites in the region and are sure this is not one of those?

 The Legend of El Dorado

Around 1541, less than half a century after Christopher Columbus's discovery of the Americas, rumors began to spread among European explorers in South America that somewhere in the hinterland of the vast continent lay a fabulous golden kingdom with riches far greater even than the great treasures of gold and silver Hernan Cortés and Francisco Pizarro had been able to extract from the Aztec and Incan empires of Mexico and Peru during the 1520s and 1530s. For the remainder of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Spanish, German, and English soldiers of fortune led expeditions through the jungles and mountains of South America, each hoping to be the first to find and conquer “El Dorado” (The Golden One), an Indian chief so rich that he clothed himself only with gold dust. All the expeditions failed, none able to find a golden chief, his wondrous kingdom, or a lake holding the great quantities of golden offerings which the legend promised. Today the legend of El Dorado is largely regarded as an unfortunate myth, a symbol of the greed that spurred Spanish conquistadors and other European explorers to conquer the land and aboriginal peoples of South America in their mad search for precious metals and easy wealth.
There is some debate among historians concerning the exact origin of the legend of El Dorado. The Spanish conquistadors Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada and Sebastián Benalcázar as well as the German explorer Nicolaus Federmann each claimed in their memoirs to have been searching for El Dorado when they converged near present-day Bogatá in the late 1530s; however, the first written description of the legend comes from the Spanish historian Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo y Valdés, who wrote in 1541 in his Historia General y Natural de las Indias, Islas y Tierra Firme del Mar Oceano of a story he had heard from the Muisca Indians of Columbia telling of a native leader who each morning had gold dust applied to his entire body, which he washed off each night before sleeping. Although de Oviedo could not confirm the veracity of this story of the chief he dubbed “El Dorado,” he reasoned that it was certainly plausible, considering the enormous quantities of gold that had been found in the previous two decades in Mexico and Peru. The following year another historian, Pedro de Cieza de León, recorded a variation of the El Dorado legend based on stories an expedition led by Gonzalo Pizarro had heard from the Quijos Indians. They told of a valley east of the Andes Mountains, where gold was so plentiful that natives commonly wore the metal as ornaments. The legend took on further dimensions in 1589, when Juan de Castellanos published his Elejias de Varones Ilustres de Indias, which claimed that Benalcázar had been told by a native of Bogatá of an Indian chief who regularly performed a sacred ceremony in which he threw golden treasures to the bottom of a lake. Subsequent seventeenth-century Spanish accounts, including Fray Pedro Simón's 1627 Noticias Historiales de las Conquistas de Tierra Firme en las Indias Occidentales and Juan Rodríguez Fresle's 1636 El Carnero de Bogatá: Conquista y descubrimiento del Nuevo Reino de Grenada continued to elaborate the association of El Dorado with a ceremony involving a lake, most commonly identified as Lake Guatavita, a circular lake near the highlands of Bogatá. Twice in the sixteenth century and again in 1801 and 1898, Spanish, French, and British treasure hunters attempted to drain Lake Guatavita in hopes of finding great treasures at the bottom of the lake; besides a few tantalizing finds, these attempts always ended in bankruptcy.
For much of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, lured on by the many variations of the legend, numerous expeditions marched over the high mountains and vast jungles of South America, each hoping to be the first to lay claim to the riches of El Dorado. Gonzalo Pizarro, Gonzalo Pérez de Quesada, Pedro de Ursúa, Pedro Maraver de Silva, and Antonio de Berrío led some of the most famous Spanish explorations for the legendary kingdom, nearly all ending in disaster as countless men died as the result of disease, hunger, and clashes with hostile natives. Spaniards, of course, were not the only Europeans who hungered to find El Dorado. The Germans Philip von Hutten and Nicolaus Federmann each vainly sought after El Dorado, as did the English explorer, Sir Walter Raleigh, whose 1595 Discoverie of the large, rich, and beautiful Empire of Guiana, with a relation of the Great and Golden Citie of Manoa (which the Spaniards call El Dorado) and 1618 Sir Walter Raghleys Large Appologie for the ill successe of his enterprise to Guiana are among the few first-hand accounts published in English that expound the legend of El Dorado. Like so many of the Spanish and German explorers before him, Raleigh's attempt to locate El Dorado cost him his life; he was executed in 1618 after a second unsuccessful voyage to Guiana in search of the land of gold yielded little.

The universe is made of energy. Everything around you is energy when broken down to it's purest form of subatomic particles including yourself. Energy cannot be totally destroyed, it just changes form. When you are born, a spark of energy brings you into this world, and within our universe are other dimensions or planes of existence. There are many doorways to these worlds and black holes will soon prove this. Astro physicists agree black that holes exist and we now have the technology to create them with particle accelerators like the Large Hadron Collider near Geneva. A black hole is a perfect example of how anything is possible in this universe because all the laws of physics go out the window when you reach the center, which is called the Singularity. Leading scientists agree the singularity is a very likely place to enter another dimension or plane of existence. This gives a great argument that doorways to other worlds do exist and how such phenomena like ghosts, spirits & hauntings are scientifically possible on our dimensional frequency in a universe made of energy.

Ghosts
What are ghosts? Our theory is that ghosts are the energy of a person or animals soul that once lived. Ghosts exist in between our dimension and the next, like a radio signal that isn't quite coming in clear on our dimensional frequency. They have not fully crossed over to the spirit realm. There are multiple reasons why ghosts make themselves known to us and how they interact with the living is usually determined by what personality characteristics they had when they where alive.

Ghost Personality Characteristics
Ghosts were once human, just like you and I. It is believed that you keep your personality characteristics when you die. For example, if you where an evil person in life, you will be the same as a ghost. Mean spirited ghosts usually torment the living at haunted locations, feeding off the victims fear energy. The same goes for good people. If you were a loving person in life, you will be a loving ghost. Good spirited ghosts are usually very protective of families that live in haunted locations.Remember not all ghosts are bad.

Why Ghosts Are Here
There are multiple reasons why ghosts make themselves known to us and why they are still here. However, there doesn't have to be a particular reason, sometimes they just happen.It can happen to anyone, at any age and remains a mystery as to why.

Crisis Apparitions
Crisis apparitions are usually a one-time paranormal experience, when a ghost is seen at the time of it's death by family & friends as a way of saying goodbye or giving important information. For example, your watching tv in your living room after visiting your mother in the hospital, and turn around to see her standing over you smiling and then she vanishes. A second later, the phone rings and when you answer, her doctor tells you she has just passed. If someone visits you more than once to give you information or comfort, that is a good sign they have progressed to your self appointed guardian angel. Ghosts That Are Unaware They Are Deceased
Ghosts that are unaware that they are deceased, go about their business as if they are still living. They do not understand they have passed. A great example is the movie "The Others". The ghosts portrayed in the movie believe the living are the ghosts. Sometimes, ghosts cant see the living but instead feel their presence. This can cause stress on the ghost as well as the living and happens often when people move into the house of a recently deceased person, usually an elderly person who lived and died alone in the final years. The ghost sees the new comers as invaders, but simply talking to the ghost about their death can help them cross over.

Ghosts With Unfinished Business
Ghosts with unfinished business can linger in this world for numerous reasons. Like a father making sure his children succeed in life despite his sudden death. There are many cases involving victims of foul play unable to cross over until justice has been served. Another example would be of a recently deceased lover making sure their partner finds happiness and moves on.

Ghosts that are trapped or lost
These types of ghosts usually know they are dead, but for one reason or another cannot cross over yet. Some may fear moving on because of the person they were in life, or they fear leaving what is familiar to them. Some ghosts may be trapped in fear and held captive by another ghost or evil spirit, like in a murder suicide haunting. Other ghosts may be trapped at a location because an evil spirit or ghost may have drove them to suicide. Dark entities feed off the fear energy of ghosts and the living. A common example of a lost ghost could be someone who died abroad and is now trying to find their way home.

Vengeful Ghosts
An example of a vengeful ghost would be if a women was murdered by a male and now as a ghost only torments or attacks males when they are present at the haunted location.

Hungry Ghosts
In Chinese/ Hindu Buddhist belief, the Hungry Ghosts are said to come back to this realm for reasons such as to visit their families or old homes. In Taoism religion, hungry ghosts are deceased people that in one way or another did not find everything they needed in the afterlife. These ghosts will come back to feed off victims fear energy. It is believed that leaving offerings of food, drink & money will appease them, so they will leave in peace.

Residual Ghosts
Residual ghosts usually live out their final hours over and over again. Residuals most often show no intelligence or self awareness, they will go right past or through you without a flinch. Many believe it was their emotional energy that left an imprint or recording on our our dimensional frequency, like a tape recorder. One example would be of someone getting hit by a train on a full moon night and now every time there's a full moon the ghost is seen walking the tracks.

Child Ghosts
Child ghosts are the ghost of children that have passed for one reason or another. This type of paranormal activity is very sad for obvious reasons. These types of ghosts are usually lonely and seek attention, inadvertently terrifying people by making toys or other objects move.

Ghostly Sounds and Smells
Ghostly sounds like knocking, screams, music, moaning, and voices are quite common around haunted locations. These sounds can be residual or intelligent. Knocking is an old way of communicating with the dead. Ghostly smells are also a very common occurrence in areas with high levels of paranormal activity and they can be residual or intelligent as well. Perfumes, cigar smoke and food smells are just a few of the scents one may encounter. Beware of foul smells like rotting garbage or sulfurs, to name a few. Foul smells like these could mean dark entities, demons or very evil ghosts are making themselves known.

Animal Ghosts
Animal ghosts are the ghosts of deceased animals and can remain in this world for numerous reasons, like their human counterparts. Animal spirit guides are different than animal ghosts. Look in the spirit section for more information on animal spirit guides.

Living Ghosts
A living ghost can be when the soul leaves the body of the still living. Such as outer body experiences, near death experiences and astral projections. There are some rare cases of people seeing themselves as a ghost only at a different age. This can happen if something traumatic took place and a piece of you was left behind or imprinted in some way at a location. These rare types of ghosts can show intelligence and self awareness. A doppelganger is different because its an exact copy of yourself. Doppelgangers can be harmless or omens of death. The harmless doppelgangers are often times an unconscious projection of a person’s will. The entity is visible to others, but the projector rarely sees it. This is a good thing, because it is believed that when a person witnesses their own doppelganger it then becomes a omen of their impending death.

Ghost Vessel, Ghost Ship, Phantom Vehicle or Ghostly Object
Phantom vehicle may refer to a ghostly or haunted vehicle, also, for insurance purposes, a vehicle that causes death, injury, or damage without making physical contact. These types of ghostly phenomena could be due to the enormous amounts of human energy that has passed through these vehicles when they where in service and can be very disturbing because they are usually connected to tragic events. For example, a ship carrying thousands of passengers throughout its carrier could store tones of energy and eventually take on a type of life of its own. There are many reports of ghost ships seen by sailors. Many are apparitions of ships that have sunk, wrecked aground, or disappeared years or centuries ago. Some sailors say siting a ghost ship foretells of impending doom on the high seas.

Many apparitions of trains, cars and carriages have been seen as well. According to the legend, every April 29th, Lincolns Ghost Train is seen. The funeral car carrying the body of Abraham Lincoln rumbles through the town of Urbana, Ohio, following the route it took back in 1865 when it carried the President's body back to Springfield, Illinois.


Spirits
A spirit is a generic term used to describe any entity that was never human like angels, demons, elementals or other Gods. However a human spirit, is the soul of a person who has crossed over and is not bound to this world like ghosts.

Angels
Angels are spirits aligned with God, they are positive energy beings that were never human. Some believe there is a hierarchy of Angels, each with a specific purpose. Different ways to evoke these spirits have been around for centuries and they will protect you from dark entities as well as the living. It is said an Angels aura is so bright that it gives the appearance of wings. Angels represent the good and positive forces of the Universe, however they are very powerful beings that are not to be trifled with.

Guardian Angels are believed to be human spirits, usually an ancestor sent to guide and protect you along life's journey. It is said that a person can have more than one Guardian Angel depending on someones sensitivity to the spirit world as well.

Animal Spirit Guide
Native Americans believe that when you are born an animals spirit enters your body. They could be a type of animal guardian of your soul and will protect you along life's journey.

Demons
Demons are negative none human spirits, commonly used in Judeo - Christian terms as fallen Angels. The term also applies to many different Gods & Spirits in other cultures that predate Judeo - Christian ones. It is believed there is a hierarchy with demons as well, ranging from the very powerful to lesser ones. Demons are very deceptive about concealing their true identity, often disguising themselves as harmless spirits or ghosts. Manifesting
Ghosts & spirits manifest in many ways, shapes and sizes. The more energy an entity has usually determines how it manifests.There seems to be a pattern when entities manifest, starting with vortexes, then orbs, ectoplasm and finally full bodied apparitions. However this is not always the case.


Vortex
A vortex is a type of doorway to the spirit world. Orbs have been captured coming out of them and many believe this is how some entities travel from one realm to the next. Vortexes usually appear only in photos as a misty funnel like shape and they have been photographed in many different colors. It is believed there could be many types of vortexes going to different places for positive & negative entities.

Orbs
You must be careful when examining orb evidence so you don't mistake them for dust, reflections of light or moisture in the air. Energy orbs, spirit orbs or ghost orbs , are spheres of energy containing the soul of the deceased or the essence of a non human entity. Some believe this is the easiest way for ghosts & spirits to manifest, because it takes less energy than a full bodied apparition. Ectoplasm
Ectoplasm is a thick mist or smoke like substance, usually only seen in photos when paranormal activity is taking place. Faces, as well as other forms have been captured on film within ectoplasm and it appears in many different colors, mainly white, blue and red. Some believe its the energy of an entity trying to manifest. Ectoplasm can also refer to anything left behind by a ghost or spirit.

Full Bodied Apparition
A full bodied apparition is when you can see the complete form of a ghost or spirit. However, most often there is some distortion and transparency to the entities form.

Hauntings
A Haunting is when paranormal activity has been occurring for a lengthy period of time in a certain location. An area can become haunted for many reasons, not just untimely deaths or tragic accidents. Sometimes an area can become haunted because it was the favorite place of a person who has passed. People do not have to die at a location for it to become haunted and it can technically happen anywhere. The architecture of a structure, the minerals in the land, underground springs and other water sources can have a major factor as well. For example, you should never build structures on top of limestone or water tables, because limestone retains energy and water is a conductor of energy. This belief dates back over 5000 years in ancient China and other areas in the region.

Haunted
Haunted can refer to a person, object, or place that has a ghost or spirit attached to it. Haunted objects can be anything from jewelry to an old piano and often have an aura in photos. Sometimes it can be a person that's haunted and not the area.

Intelligent Haunting
An intelligent haunting is when paranormal activity interacts with the living and shows some type of intelligence.

Demonic Haunting
A Demonic haunting, is when a negative, non human spirit or spirits haunt a location. These types of hauntings usually start out playful but can quickly turn very dangerous and even deadly. Demons destroy families and can haunt people their entire lives. Even if they move, the demons will follow. An exorcism or cleansing must be conducted to rid the victim, object or location of these negative entities, by a demonologist, priest or shaman, but there's is no guarantee this will work.

Shadow People
Not much is known of shadow people, but as the technology improves, the paranormal community is getting more and more evidence of their existence. Some call them watchers or observers from another dimension. Shadow people may not be ghosts or spirits. They are described as tall, black humanoid like beings. Some with red eyes and no necks.

Poltergeist
This paranormal phenomenon is the most unknown and difficult type of paranormal activity to identify because of its behavior. The term Poltergeist comes from Germany and translates to "noisy ghost". Some of the signs are loud banging, knocking, disembodied voices, and objects disappearing and reappearing in other locations. Poltergeists can become dangerous because objects have been known to be violently thrown at the agent. This type of paranormal activity has often been blamed on evil ghosts or spirits. However, more recent theories show a connection to psychokinesis. One theory is that a human agent can be the cause of these types of hauntings. This could be a type of spontaneous psychokinesis and could be linked to traumatic experiences that have happened to the agent or subject. This can happen to anyone at any age. The good news is that poltergeist activity can stop just as fast as it began.

Private Residence Oceanside CA Case File 6

(Exact location classified at homeowners request)

This particular case was interesting. During our interview with the resident on 11/01/2011 to decide if Paranormalistics would take the case, their stereo turned on by itself and the volume (which had to be turned manually) went all the way up, blaring music while we were directly in front of it. After inspecting the stereo and looking around the house some more, my fellow investigator and I went outside on the patio to get some fresh air. (Only two members of Paranormalistics were present during the interview), myself and another investigator. While outside my fellow team members purse which she placed on the patio table moved across its surface about a foot. This definitely caught our attention, so we decided to come back a week later for an official investigation.

The investigation took place on 11/07/2011, our team of two arrived at 10:10 PM. The homeowner has reported to have had many paranormal experiences taken place over the last year. Such incidences include the stereo turning on by itself, loud banging from the garage, lights turning on by themselves, her name being called while she slept and objects being moved. The resident told us that a candle, (which was on the wall shelf) was found in the middle of the living room floor lit more than once when she had came home from work. We checked the house for any abnormalities and all was clear. I performed several EVP sessions throughout the night and recorded some very interesting audio of several voices in the house. We captured a photo of an Energy Orb in the master bedroom as well. We ended the investigation at 6:00 AM the next day.


Conclusion

This location is haunted. My fellow investigator and myself both witnessed the stereo turning on by itself, as well as the purse moving across the table. We also captured many EVPs and an orb photo. This haunting could possibly be the result of a Vortex with many entities in and around the house. We will re investigate this house in Feb 2012

UFO Falls in Brazil and Africa

Are these probes of some sort?
Earlier this year,  Feb 2012, an unidentified metal sphere has plunged from the sky on unsuspecting villagers in northern Brazil, causing an uproar. According to eyewitnesses, the UFO weighs about 50 kilograms and measures roughly one meter in diameter.
The sphere fell on Wednesday in a village of Riacho dos Poços in Brazilian Maranhão state. No casualties were reported apart from an unfortunate cashew tree that was severed by the object as it plunged to the ground, according to MR Notícias, a Mata Roma news site.
Valdir José Mendes, 46, told police the sphere landed several meters from his house leaving a one-meter-deep hole in the yard.
"I heard the noise and I went out to see what caused it. I thought it was a plane that had fallen, or an earthquake," he said.
The noise was such that Mendes was too scared to go outside. However, curiosity got the better of him and he headed outside to find the cashew tree’s trunk snapped in half by a mysterious metal sphere lying in a hole nearby.

Some 20 villagers joined Mendes to help him extract the object from the ground and examine it. Mendes says the sphere is hollow and if shaken some sort of liquid can be felt swishing inside. Locals quickly spread the news, as they reached the town of Mata Roma over 2,000 people flocked to see the “UFO”.
"It was a huge uproar here. Some feared it was the beginning of the 2012 end of the world, others said it was ‘alien’, but I think it is a piece of satellite," said Max Garreto Mauro, 25, a resident of Mata Roma.
Peter Costa, the meteorologist at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), agrees with Garetto, saying the object would probably be part of a satellite. "I'm sure this is not a weather balloon or part of it," he said as quoted by O Imparcia.
Military police confiscated the sphere and took it to the barracks in the nearby Mata Roma. They have not specified what the UFO’s possible future will be. In a statement the Air Force Command said it "does not have specialized structures to perform scientific research on this type of aerial phenomena, which prevents the institution to submit an opinion on these events."

In December 2011, a similar incident happened in Namibia, where a metal "Teletubby head" weighing 5.9 kilograms and measuring 35 centimeters in diameter hit the ground in the village of Omanatunga. Some Russian specialists believe the “head” was part of the third stage of the Soyuz-U rocket, launched on October 30.
Space debris stories made the headlines throughout 2011. In January, media chased the infamous Russian Mars probe Phobos-Grunt across five oceans to keep up with Russia’s space agency, constantly changing the possible impact location.
Earlier in October, the German Roentgen satellite split into 30 chunks, one of which weighed 400 kilograms, but those globs eventually made their way in to the Indian Ocean.
In September 2011, the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite made headlines when it threatened to fall right onto Britain but eventually collapsed into a remote part of the Pacific Ocean.

Metal ‘Teletubby head’ falls near Namibian village Published: 23 December, 2011

Mystery surrounds a 13-pound unidentified flying object which fell from the skies in northern Namibia. Despite efforts by researchers to identify its composition and origins, nobody has been able to establish where the metal sphere came from.
The ball, weighing 13 pounds (5.9 kilograms) and measuring 14 inches (35 centimeters) in diameter hit the ground next to the Namibian village of Omanatunga in the Omunsati region in the north of the country.
Locals reported hearing a series of loud explosions before the sphere was found by a farmer sometime between November 15 and November 20. The metal ball was found some 60 feet (18.3 meters) away from a small crater it is assumed to have created when it fell.
Ever since, local officials and researchers have been kept busy investigating the origins and make-up of the mysterious ball. Local police chief Vilho Hifindaka was quick to calm everyone down by saying the object did not pose any danger, as it was hollow inside.
The director of the Namibian National Forensic Science Institute, Paul Vidik, said the two sides of the ball appear to be welded together and that the sphere contains a metal alloy used in spaceships. He rejected the idea that it could be an extraterrestrial object and said such findings are commonplace throughout the southern hemisphere – in South America, Africa and Australia.
Russian specialist Igor Lisov, a columnist for the magazine Novosti Kosmonavtiki (Astronomy News), believes the sphere is part of the third stage of the Russian “Soyuz-U” rocket that carried the transport ship “Progress M-13M” on October 30.
Lisov said the trajectory of the third stage’s fall indicated it was to hit the ground in Namibia on November 1. However he denied that the object could be part of the stranded Phobos-Grunt probe as it has not yet entered Earth’s atmosphere and is not expected to fall to Earth until late January 2012.

Baltic Sea UFO

Possible UFO in the Baltic Sea : A very strange anomaly was found during a sonar survey of the sea floor. Some say it may be a UFO that Crash landed.

Swedish researchers have found a giant circle on the bottom of the Baltic Sea when searching for shipwrecks with bottles of champagne.

On the early morning of June 19 three of the nine crew members of the exploration team saw something strange appear on their screen.

Between Sweden and Finland, the team found at 90 meters depth a large shape with a diameter of 60 ft. Peter Lindberg, the initiator of the expeditions:  “In this field you are confronted with many strange things, but in all those 18 years that I do I’ve never seen anything like it and it is completely round in shape.”

Lindberg added that the scars on the earth surrounding it could show where the supposed  craft landed and skidded along.

Anyhow, Lindberg says his team do not have the money or resources to examine the shape further.

Baltic Sea UFO Update

The so-called "Baltic Sea UFO" has been relocated by divers on the research vessel Ocean Explorer and reports confirm there is a massive object on the seabed in the exact location found on sonar last year.

The research vessel, aka the OceanX, has returned to the spot off the Swedish coast where a gigantic, sunken object was spotted on video last November.

Images posted to the web stirred a gigantic debate about its origins, going so far as to speculate it bore an uncanny resemblance to the "Millennium Falcon" spaceship at the center of the Star Wars saga.

Others calmly pointed out that the massive, circular object was either a natural formation or the remains of Russian warships sunk to the bottom decades, maybe even a century ago.

 “We’ll be searching the area in a number of ways,” Lindberg explained. “We’ll use sonar to make 3D images of the bottom, the clay bottom, of that part of the sea. We’ll send down deep-sea divers too. And a camera robot. We’ll also take samples from the sea bed and measure them for toxicities and radiation.”

The original research team, led by Peter Lindberg, who was scouring the area for sunken treasure last year, decided to return to the coordinates with sophisticated sonar and video equipment to have a closer look in the calmer waters of June.

The vessel is also carrying a team of deep sea divers ready to go down for the hands-on approach to decide if this mysterious object is indeed a Baltic Sea UFO.

A breaking news dispatch from the ship on Thursday confirms that the object is real and located in the same position.

It goes on to announce that "The divers are now down and investigating the circle and reports from the ship say they are really amazed. There is definitely something unusual hiding at the seabed - a Mystery Beneath. More information and pictures will be released next week."

The tantalizing dispatch has caused consternation in the many followers of the mission, and comments on the news site already hint at conspiracy and coverup.

It remains to be seen exactly what this immense object really is, but further details which may solve the mystery are only a week away.
